Younis Khan appointed as the new batting coach of the Pakistan team for the tour of England.

Younis Khan, the former captain of the Pakistan cricket team and the highest run-scorer in Test cricket for Pakistan, has been appointed the batting mentor of the team for the upcoming tour of England. Former leg spinner Mushtaq Ahmed has also been appointed as the spin bowling coach for the same tour.

In the past, Pakistan Cricket Board had offered Younis Khan the coaching of the Pakistan Under-19 cricket team two years ago, but he refused the offer as he had issues with the board then.

The Pakistani team has to visit England next month to play a series of three Tests and three T20 matches, but given the current the situation, the tour is subject to permission from the Pakistani government.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) says, head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and a batting and spin bowling coach has been appointed to assist fast bowling coach Waqar Younis in providing the necessary resources and achieving the best results. He also said that technique and discipline are crucial in the specific conditions of England. If the preparation of the Pakistani team is right, good results will come out in this tour.

Younis Khan On His Appointment As Batting Mentor :

To represent my country, I have always felt honoured, and I feel privileged again of this opportunity to serve my country even though the tour would be challenging but exciting as well.

I am happy to share my experiences and knowledge of cricket with youngsters. I think this tour is a great opportunity where I can spend the most time with the players to improve their batting techniques and mental toughness.

Even though we have most youngsters in our team but I am confident our team will perform better if they play under unity. Some of the players have played in England in the previous tour and are aware of the conditions and June-July makes better conditions for batting and I hope we will repeat the performances that we achieved in previous tours I hope we will win the series and celebrate it.

Khans’ Performances :

The Pakistani cricket team led by Younis Khan also won the T20 World Cup in 2009. Still, his performance as a Test captain has not been impressive.

Younis holds an impressive record against England, In 17 matches Younis has scored 1426 runs at an impressive batting average of over 50

Younis has taken 139 catches in Tests, making him as Pakistan’s best fielder and overall 13th in the history of test cricket.

Misbah-ul-Haq said he is happy for him and looks forward to reuniting with. We know each other very well as we have worked in the past decade to contribute to Pakistan’s most historic and memorable Test wins.

In his test career, Younis has scored 10,099 runs at an average of over 52 in 118. His career highest-score is 313 which he scored back in 2009 vs Sri Lanka.
