Pakistan Cricketer Umar Akmal was immediately suspended on Thursday by the Pakistan Cricket Board. This means that, until the PCB Anti-corruption Unit (ACU) investigates him, Akmal can not engage in cricket-related activities until the PCB Anti-corruption Unit (ACU) is investigating him.

The ban was handed to Umer Akmal by retired Mr Justice Fazal-e-Miran Chauhan, who is Chairman of the Disciplinary Panel PCB.

On 17 March, UmarAkmal was charged with two violations of Article 2.4.4 of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code which states  Failing to disclose to the PCB Vigilance and Security Department (without unnecessary delay) full details of any approaches or invitations received by the Participant to engage in Corrupt Conduct under this Anti-Corruption Code”.. After determining that the batsman had not requested a hearing before the Anti-Corruption Tribunal, PCB referred the matter to the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee on 9 April.

This is not the first time Umer Akmal has been in trouble. In Sep 2017 Akmal was banned by PCB for his outburst on former coach Mickey Arthur. In May 2016 Akmal along with Ahmad Shehzad were left out of England series on a disciplinary basis.
Meanwhile the PCB said it will release reasons as soon as it receives them from Justice Fazal-e-Miran Chauhan.

Former Cricketer Rameez Raja Tweeted "So Umar Akmal officially makes it to the list of idiots! Banned for 3 years. What a waste of a talent! It’s high time that Pakistan moved towards passing a legislative law against match fixing. Behind bars is where such jack asses belong! Otherwise brave for more!!"
