Turkmenistan is a country in Central Asia with a population of around 5.6 million, which is lowest among the countries of Central Asia. The country is dominated by Muslims which constitute 93% of the population followed by Eastern Orthodox Christians which are 6% of the population. The majority of the population are ethnic Turks while Russians and Uzbeks fall in minority. The official language of the country is Turkmen although Russian is also spoken in cities as a part of intercommunication between the ethnic groups.
Turkmenistan is endowed with a large number of natural resources like oil, natural gas, and water. Natural gas reserves are found in abundance and the world’s fourth-largest reserves are possessed by this country. The subsidy is provided by the government on Natural gas, Electricity, water, and salt which is valid up to 2030. Each month citizen of this country is provided with 50 cubic meters of natural gas and 35-kilowatt hours of electricity.
Recently the Tourism industry is growing rapidly with the creation of the Awaza zone on the Caspian sea which is located to the west of the country. The popular tourist destinations are historical sites like Nisa, Merv, Daşoguz Konye-Urgench, and holiday sites Mollakara, Ýylysuw, and Archman.
